Allandale is full of delightful homes resting along leafy streets that straddle Shoal Creek Blvd. north of Koenig Ln/2222. These well kept, mostly ranch style homes, with some mid centrury modern mixed in, have endured in poplularity over the decades. There are many Allandale homes for sale today.
Allandale homes were first built in the early 1950's off of Allandale Rd (now part of 2222)near the intersection of Burnet Rd. This area, often called "Old Allandale" featured modest to mid sized mostly frame homes on big lots with pier and beam foundations, hardwood floors and abundant windows. One early resident recalled to me that when she first built her home in 1951, the streets were not yet even paved.
As time went on, development moved north and Allandale had additional phases that continued up Shoal Creek to Anderson Ln., and across from what is now Mopac Expwy to Burnet Rd. Allandale West was developed in the mid and late 50's and featured slightly larger and more substantially constructed homes west of Shoal Creek and immediately north of 2222 near Mopac.
Eventually developers, noting the success of Allandale, built Allandale Estates off Steck and even Allandale "north" which is north of Anderson and east of Burnet Rd.
The center of Allandale features Northwest Park and Pool. Softball fields, a small pond, tennis courts and picnic tables dot this large park in the middle of the Allandale neighborhood. Most Allandale homes are an easy walk to this park. Gullett elementary serves the majority of the Allandale neighborhood.
Allandale homes for sale range in price from the mid $200's to the mid $400's. 3 and 4 bedroom Allandale homes are popular with singles, couples and families who want the close-in location in a semi-suburban setting. Allandale is a vintage Austin suburb that is now centrally located at the geographic center of the city. Allandale is a stable, attractive community in North Central Austin.
